Process Paper
My group member and I
chose the topic of Henry Ford’s Assembly Line because we felt it was one of the
biggest turning points in history. Without the events and successors leading up
to this event it may not have been possible to be accomplished. We also believe
that the world wouldn’t be where it is today without the invention of the Henry
Ford Assembly line. Everything in history is cause and effect, and the effect of
our topic changed the lives of millions in that time period, and even today. My
partner and I have a good interest in cars, how they function, and how they
evolve. We were fascinated on how the invention of cars all started and what it
leads to. The evolution of cars made an impact on how we live in society and it
all started with our topic. We felt that doing this topic for our project would
be easy to find solid information and allow us to have fun doing it. Since it
was a topic we liked and both agreed on we were able to do large quantities of
work at a time without being bored or dragging on. It was a good topic to do to
keep ourselves focused and engaged in the
project.
Our topic is related to turning points because it changed the lives of
millions of people by influencing the way they live, and how they take part in
society. Henry Ford changed the world with his invention because it lead to many
events that made life for the people easier. Cars made a huge impact on our
world because before our invention most of everything we did was manual. Our
society evolved from walking, to a horse, to a horse and carriage, to a
quadricycle, to the Ford Model T. people had to walk to jobs, to get food, or
anywhere else they were going. The Henry Ford Assembly Line was able to mass
produce the first car ever made the Model T. by mass producing this car it made
cars more available and affordable for people all over our nation. The assembly
line didn’t just produce the Model T; it also paved a path for assembly lines
for all products, and rapid advancement of modernized automobiles. We feel that
without Henry Ford the mass production of products around the U.S would have
been very different, and cars around our country wouldn’t be the same. People in
today’s age depend on quality, quantity, dependability, and quickness. Without
any of these traits how could we get anything done in the manner we want to?
Henry Ford’s Assembly line was a huge turning point in
history.
The way my partner and I did our research was by organization, and
putting events in order. The first thing we did for our project was find
information on each section we were doing and putting them in separate parts of
a paper so we could tell where the information went. As we went along we copied
our sources onto a word document so we could easily put together our
bibliography without searching for our info. Once we had everything we needed to
we wrote it in our website just to get our information and thoughts down onto
our project. We then searched for pictures that went along with our ideas and
put them into the website. We found that it was easier to stay organized and
edit the info and design last because it saved a lot of time. Once we knew every
topic we were going to cover within our project we divided information to search
evenly and at the end of our time the project came together very well between
the two of us. We took time in the library at school, and at home to search
about the general topic we picked and also about other things within our topic
that were important. The way we organized our information was working our way up
from events leading to out topic, and proceeding with how The Henry Ford
Assembly Line changed life for Americans. Our research was very well thought
out.
We chose our display method to be a website because we felt that would be
the best way for people to understand what actually happened. Making a poster
board could have been a little more difficult to lay out in an understandable
manner. By putting our information on the internet we were able to organize our
information better and allow more than just our class to the project. We felt
that a website would be very fun to create because designing the website and
even putting up pictures created a good way to connect with our topic. We also
think that a website would have come out more presentable than a poster board or
any other display method. Making a website is easy, fun, looks professional, and
was something my partner and I agreed on together. Another reason why we picked
to create a website is because it allowed us to get more of the project done in
a less amount of time because we did not have to be together to work on it. With
a poster board you have to both visually see the poster board together to share
ideas and decide together how to put the information. Also with another display
method only one person from the group can have it at a time so no changes or
additions can be made by other members. With a website it allowed us as partners
to work on the same project at the same time from different locations. We were
still able to share ideas and info, and it made an extremely easier time
finishing the project as a pair instead of
individually.
